As a kid growing up, I always wanted to be outside. Whether it was warm or cold, I needed to be on the move. My mom used to time me as I would run laps around my house, seeing if I could beat my previous time. As I got older, I played football, basketball and lacrosse. Once I got to high school I focused on just lacrosse.
After playing lacrosse for two years, I was done with it and ready to try something new. My dad started doing this thing called CrossFit, and when I saw how it was changing him, I had to try it out for myself. After that, I never looked back. I fell in love with the different Olympic lifts, as well as body and gymnastics movements. CrossFit is a great way to have a fun competitive workout, where you can push yourself alongside others and be a part of a great community.
One thing I loved about this gym when I first joined was how nobody cared what skill level you were, and everyone wanted you to succeed. I now bring that into my coaching. For me, I just want to see someone achieve their goal no matter how big or small it may be. If you are better today than you were yesterday, then that means we did something right. I love helping people and watching them grow and learn new things every day.
CrossFit changes people not just physically, but mentally as well, and I'm very grateful I can be a part of this wonderful journey.
